Sandiaga Glad Jokowi Adopts Zero Rupiah DP Housing Program

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice presidential hopeful number 02 Sandiaga Uno expressed his gladness that President Joko `Jokowi` Widodo implemented zero-rupiah down payment housing program initiated by him and Anies Baswedan. He recalled times when his program was initially opposed and tackled by many parties.

"The government now launches the program. Personally, I as the initiator with Pak Anies are very happy," said Sandiaga Thursday, November 8, in Radio Malam area, South Jakarta.

The government earlier issued plans to construct a housing project for state civil apparatus (ASN), National Military Force, and National Police officers with zero-rupiah DP scheme. The National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) head Bambang Brodjonegoro said in addition to zero-rupiah down payment, the loan term might extend to 30 years and installment payment might be until retirement age.

Sandiaga deemed the zero-rupiah DP housing program proved that the government appreciated ideas he had previously brought up. According to Sandi, citizen especially living in urban areas faced difficulty to get an affordable house.

The former Jakarta deputy governor said affordable housing program is listed in his vision and mission with presidential hopeful Prabowo Subianto for the 2019 election. The coalition party backing Prabowo-Sandiaga considered housing assets ownership was a significant way to improve people’s welfare, yet Sandiaga stopped short of the scheme.

“We have to first analyze the topography for such a national level, the team is currently examining our housing program,” said Sandiaga.

Bambang Brodjonegoro affirmed the government’s zero-rupiah housing program was different than Anies-Sandiaga’s program for the capital city. “This is house ownership credit program or KPR, but with Rp0 DP,” said Bambang in Presidential Office, Jakarta, Wednesday, November 7.

Meanwhile, in Anies-Sandiaga’s affordable housing program, Jakarta administration provided the funding of down payment. The city administration proposed additional budget valued Rp717 billion in the 2018 Revised Regional Budget for the assistance fund.
