Jokowi Boards MRT Train from HI Roundabout to Lebak Bulus

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo inspected the construction project of mass rapid transit (MRT) Jakarta today, November 6. He visited MRT’s Hotel Indonesia (HI) station in Gambir, Central Jakarta.
Jokowi arrived in the site with Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi at 08:50 a.m., greeted by Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan who waited in the station gate. Three of them wore a white t-shirt.
Jakarta Regional Legislative Council (DPRD) speaker Prasetio Edi Marsudi came after to join the president entourage boarding MRT train to Lebak Bulus station.
MRT planned to be operated starting March 2019 serving the route of Lebak Bulus – HI Roundabout across 16 stations. In the Blok M - HI Roundabout route, the lane of MRT railway and Transjakarta corridor 1 coincided.
Earlier, other than Prasetio, DPRD Jakarta deputy speaker Triwisaksana and Mohamad Taufik had tried to board MRT train last month. Triwisaksana expressed his optimism that the first phase of MRT would be operable in March 2019.
