KPK Advises Ridwan Kamil on Planned Summoning of Bekasi Officials

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has appealed to West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil to not take any action that might hinder the investigation into the Meikarta bribery case.

“We appeal [to the governor] to refrain from taking any action that might hamper the KPK investigation into the case. Because it is possible that the parties to be summoned are also the witnesses for the KPK,” said KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah on Friday, October 26. 

Earlier, West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil planned to summon officials from the Bekasi regency administration and the developer of graft-stricken Meikarta project. 

The KPK suspected Bekasi Regent Neneng Hassanah Yasin and four Bekasi regency official had received bribes to expedite the licensing process of the Meikarta project.

The KPK also alleged that the bribe money came from Lippo Group's director of operations Billy Sindoro, two project consultants and another Lippo employee.
