TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The United Kingdom offered loan to state-owned railway operator KAI to funding the reactivation project of four railroads in West Java. Ridwan Kamil, West Java Governor, said the British Ambassador to Indonesia Moazzam Malik proposed the help to quicken the infrastructure development.
“The interest is low and that in rupiah, not in pound sterling. The SOE must be interested in it because of the low rate,” said Ridwan Kamil at Gedung Sate, Bandung, Thursday, September 27.
Ridwan Kamil added Malik would meet KAI president director Edi Sukmoro to directly deliver his proposal. “We focus on the connectivity, toll road, railroad, and airport. KAI is the operator but where the money come from?” he said.
The governor assumed Britain could provide trillions of rupiah for the project of railroad reactivation with the route of Banjar-Cijulang-Pangandaran-Parigi, Garut-Cikajang, Cikudapateuh Bandung-Banjaran-Ciwidey, and Rancaekek-Tanjungsari.
Meanwhile, Malik ensured his office would support the Indonesian government to develop the regions in the infrastructure sector. The UK, he added, had the financial capital offer for the infrastructure and its design development.
Moazzam Malik said that Britain mostly attracted to fund the program of the reactivation of four railway routes in West Java and Integrated Railway (LRT) Bandung. However, he did not disclose the figure.
