TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Lion Air Corporate Communications Strategic Danang Mandala Prihantoro said that the viral video of a Lion Air passenger complaining about a damaged baggage was an old video that took place at the Kualanamu Airport in May 2018.
“The incident in the video took place three months ago in May 2018,” said Danang in a written statement received by Tempo today, August 2.
The video shows several Lion Air passengers complaining to one of the airline’s employee regarding their damaged baggage that was allegedly tampered with by an unknown individual. The video shows the employee agreeing to coordinate the case with the airline’s management.
Danang explained that Lion Air has followed-up the case according to company procedures and the case is already closed. “Lion Air has suffered because of the spread of the video. Therefore, Lion Air will take legal action against the perpetrator who spread the video,” he said.
Furthermore, Lion Air management felt that the video that had made rounds once again has hurt the company's image and will be taking legal steps for the damage the video caused. They also demand the perpetrator to remove the video from every social-media platforms within 24 hours.
