Umar Hadi Receives 2018 Best Ambassador Award from South Korea

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Ambassador to South Korea, Umar Hadi was granted with the 2018 Best Ambassador Award. It was given to Ambassador Umar Hadi at the South Korean Parliament Building in Seoul on Thursday, June 21.
According to a press statement released by the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, the 2018 Best Ambassador Award was given in recognition of the activities of Ambassador Umar in promoting relations between Indonesia and South Korea, especially in fighting for protection and empowerment of 36,000 Indonesian migrant workers, including health and safety aspects in the workplace that gained a special note from the selection committee.
“The various activities of Ambassador Umar Hadi are the paragon or example for other ambassadors in South Korea, especially those who send their migrant workers to come here,” said Yeo Hong-Il, one of the leaders of the selection committee.
The selection committee also paid attention to the efforts of Ambassador Umar in enhancing the business-to-business relationship that has significantly increased the number of Indonesian-South Korean joint ventures.
The establishment of these joint ventures has contributed significantly to the increase of South Korean investment in Indonesia, which in the first quarter of 2018 has entered the top three.
Indonesian exports continue to be encouraged by the introduction of new products, especially the processed foods and beverages, furniture and wood products, as well as creative industrial products. The South Korean products are continuously introduced to the Indonesian market, such as through the concept of K-healthcare.
The 2018 Best Ambassador Award granted to Umar Hadi is a result of hard work by all parties at the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Seoul.
“I dedicate this award to all staff of the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Seoul who have worked hard and made the diplomatic machine of the Embassy in Seoul work well, efficiently, progressively and always uphold the spirit of serving,” said Ambassador Umar Hadi.
Former Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Los Angeles, USA, also assessed the role of media in South Korea that also appreciate the performance of the Embassy in Seoul.
The Best Ambassador Award is one of the categories of awards titled ‘Korea First, World Best Awards’ held annually since 2009. ‘Korea First, World Best Awards’ is an award show organized by NDNnews in collaboration with SeoulCity Magazine and Korea Culture Ambassador Friendship Association.
‘Korea First, World Best Awards’ is an award given through the selection by independent team assessing based on various criteria made primarily by contributions of public officials, organizational leaders, and companies in the South Korean development, as well as the promotion of South Korean relations with friendly countries.
