TEMPO.CO, Ngawi - The National Police Chief Gen. Tito Karnavian asserted he would intervene in the price of flight ticket that was above 100 percent of the normal fare during Eid homecoming flow. “If the price increases above the reasonable limit and burden the public, it [the airline] will be processed by legal,” he said on Sunday evening, June 10.

Tito conveyed the statement while inspecting rest area KM 575 in the Ngawi-Solo toll road, Paron, Ngawi, East Java. Several officials accompanied him including Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, and Public Works and Housing Basuki Hadimuljono.

Health Minister Nila Moeloek, Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Puan Maharani, and National Military (TNI) Marshall Hadi Tjahjanto also presented to monitor several areas in the Trans Java toll road. The entourage visited the location using the helicopter.

Tito explained the police had coordinated with airline branches in the regions to talks on the price ticket that was expected to be not above the standard set. The same effort, he said, had been imposed by Transportation Ministry earlier. “Pak Minister Transportation had also coordinated [the matter].”

Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi stated the increased fare of the flight ticket was still within the reasonable limit. However, the ministry would keep monitoring the price offered by the airlines. “If the price was over the standard, we will take action towards the respective airline,” said Budi on June 7.
