TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesia-Africa Forum 2018 in Nusa Dua, Bali, is started today, April 10. The event which will be held until tomorrow is opened by Vice President Jusuf Kalla.
The forum will discuss the improvement of Indonesia`s economic relations with African countries. Indonesia wants to translate high political relations with African countries in concrete economic cooperation.
According to the Foreign Affairs Ministry's director of Africa Daniel T.S. Simanjuntak, a number of panelists will perform in several sessions at the IAF 2018. Each session will present five to six speakers include the minister of foreign affairs, the finance minister, and CEOs of businesses.

A number of ministers from African countries have confirmed their presence in the forum. Among them are the Minister of Agriculture of Gabon, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cameroon, Foreign Minister of Madagascar, Minister of Trade and Industry of Mozambique, Minister of Mines and Steel of Nigeria, Minister of Railways of Senegal and Special Affairs of President of Algeria.
Through the IAF 2018, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hopes business deals will be signed. It will also announce the efforts to be made in economic cooperation between Indonesia and African countries until 2019, including the reduction of export tariffs to African countries that are still high.
