TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Soekarno-Hatta airport train will give a 50 percent discount on Saturday and Sunday trips as of Saturday, March 10, 2018 until May 27, 2018.

The program, dubbed the ProSaMi (Program Sabtu-Minggu), is a form of appreciation for customers as well as to cater to customers' enthusiasm in using the train as a means of public transport. Airport operator PT Railink hoped ProSaMi would be widely acknowledged as a tourism alternative.

“We expect that the 50% discount airport train tickets will be an alternative for family recreation on weekends, and educate the young generation to love the train,” said PT Railink commercial director Porwanto in a written statement dated Friday, March 9.

The discount is valid for all schedules and departure stations of the airport train in Jakarta, from BNI City station, Batu Ceper station, to Soekarno-Hatta airport.

Customers can book ProSaMi tickets via the Railink official website or directly purchase the tickets on the same day from vending machines at the stations.

Porwanto said the discount could be extended should the public's enthusiasm towards the program continue to escalate till May 2018.

The Soekarno-Hatta airport train has served more than 100 thousand passengers daily after its debut on December 26, 2017. Not only does it become an option of transport to reach the airport, it also aims at educating children about trains and airport tours.

President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo launched the airport train in January with normal ticket prices set at Rp70 thousand while reserved tickets at Rp77 thousand.
