TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno hopes that the government can continue programs which provide Jakartans with public spaces like Ahok`s Green Open Spaces (RTH) or child-friendly integrated public spaces (RPTRA).

The RPTRA program is a legacy of the former Governor of Jakarta Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok. “The procurement scheme is we will work together with the private sector,” said Sandiaga.

Sandiaga revealed that privately owned land spaces in Jakarta have been one of the challenges faced by the Jakarta administration.

“Many of the land spaces are privately owned. Some of [my] friends said that they want to make space for a green open space but they mutually asked for something in return,” said the deputy governor on Wednesday, March 7.

One of the requests is to have a property tax (PBB) reduction. Another option was offered too, suggesting that lands owners can keep control 20 percent of their land to advertise.

Sandiaga Uno said that he urged developers who have purchased land spaces but have yet utilized their land to consider including public spaces for residents in its vicinity. Just two days ago, he wanted the RPTRA program to be preserved if the public wants it to be continued.

Previously, Head of Jakarta’s housing agency Agustino Darmawan said that it would stop the RPTRA program by the end of this year after Jakarta Officials were faced with difficulties to find available land spaces to construct 47 RPTRA
