TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The prepaid SIM card registration deadline is on February 28. The Ministry of Communications and Informatics noted that on the last day, 305 million customers have re-registered their numbers.
The ministry will block the unregistered prepaid SIM cards starting tomorrow, March 1. Ahmad said it will begin by blocking the outgoing calls. In addition, the outgoing SMS service will also be blocked.
“Customers can receive calls and SMS, as well as internet data,” Ahmad said at a press conference at the ministry's office, Jakarta, Wednesday, February 28.

Ahmad said the ministry still give time until March 31 to do the reregistration. However, if the customer still not registering the number, the second step of blocking will be done. “On April 1, the incoming call and SMS services will be blocked,” he said.
Ahmad said it will be valid from April 1 to 30. In that period, the customer can still use the internet provider data package. “It means that WhatsApp, Line, Facebook can still be operable but SMS and phone calls are not,” he said.
However, if until April 30, the customer does not register the card yet, the total blocking will apply.
The Communication Ministry data shows the number of prepaid SIM card users throughout Indonesia has reached about 376 million. That means there are still about 71 million customers who have not done the reregistration.
