Anies Interception Considered to Affect Jokowi Electability

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Voxpol Center Research and Consulting political observer, Pangi Syarwi Chaniago, appealed to President Joko ‘Jokowi’ Widodo and his internal circle to make the interception incident of the Presidential Security Force (Paspampres) against Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan as a lesson.
"They should be more careful in all their actions, especially in relation to public perception and negative sentiment," Pangi said on Monday, February 19, 2018.

Pangi stated that Paspampres action that did not allow Anies joining Jokowi during the award presentation of the President’s Cup gave Jokowi the impression of being rivaled by Anies. "It may also impress that the President did not like the winning governor in the heat election of Jakarta and that such a childish act," he said.
He remarked it was decent for Jakarta Governor entering the field to accompany President and Persija as Anies Baswedan is the host where the match took place and the winning team was Persija, a football club built by Jakarta. Moreover, the governor must accompany the president in his territory according to Law No. 9 of 2010 on Protocol. In Article 13, an official, in this case, the head of the host region, is required to assist the President and/or Vice President in an official event.
