TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi met with Palestinian FM Riyad Maliki to discuss issues related to Jerusalem. The meeting took place in Amman, Jordan, on Monday, December 11, at 2:15 local time.
“For about two hours, both foreign ministers discussed issues related to Jerusalem and moves to be taken to strive for Palestinian rights and independence,” Foreign Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arrmanatha Nasir said in a press release received by Tempo today, Dec. 12.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced that his administration recognized Jerusalem as Israel’s Capital. President Trump will follow up the statement by moving the US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
The move sparked harsh criticism from many countries. Most state leaders view the move could trigger conflicts in the Middle East.
Indonesian President Joko Widodo condemns Trump’s Jerusalem decision. He also had contacted Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas on Friday, December 8, to express Indonesia’s stance on the issue.
Arrmanatha added that Minister Retno also discussed results of Arab League ministerial meeting and the preparation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Summit in Istanbul, Turkey.
