TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The atmosphere at the National Monument (Monas) was unusually crowded on Friday morning after the Jakarta Deputy Governor Sandiaga Uno decided to arrive there seemingly in his running clothes.
It turned out that Sandiaga had been running from his house which is roughly seven kilometers from Monas. He was accompanied by several members of his employees such as Jakarta Administration Secretary Saefullah and former national running athlete Eduardus Nabunome.
“Pak Saefullah now looks slightly slimmer, it’s been barely a week working with the new administration,” said Sandiaga.
According to Sandiaga Uno, it is a routine dubbed ‘run to work’ that will be held once a week to initiate a healthier lifestyle and hopefully reduce traffic congestion. He also claims that by running through the heart of Jakarta, he is able to monitor the conditions of the capital's sidewalks.
