TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Music group Krakatau Reunion wow spectators at Indonesian Festival held in Moscow, Russia, on Sunday. Vocalist Trie Utami spoke a Russian word “spasiba” that means thank you for the audience enthusiasm.
“Krakatau Reunion are very pleased to have performed in Moscow,” Trie Utami said.
Under the name of Krakatau Reunion, the band comprise of Trie Utami (vocals), Indra Lesmana (keyboard), Dwiki Darmawan (keyboard), Gilang Ramadhan (drum), Donny Suhendra (guitar) and Pra Budhi Darma (bass).
Utami greeted the audience and apologized for not talking in Russian. She jokingly wished that Russians would be able to speak in the Indonesian language instead.
The band performed at Hermitage Park in Moscow as a delegate of Boyolali District, Central Java—that participated in the festival by opening a stand.
Krakatau Reunion brought several songs, including Perjalanan, Mata ke Mata, Anyer, Panghareupan, Kau Datang and Seraut Wajah. They also performed instrumental ethnic jazz music.
Keyboardist Dwiki Darmawan said that they joined an event eight years ago in Moscow under the name of Krakatau Band celebrating the bilateral relations between Indonesia and Russia.
Meanwhile, another keyboardist Indra Lesmana told spectators that Krakatau was formed in 1986 and was named after Mount Krakatoa, which is situated in the Sunda Strait, Indonesia. The Krakatoa volcano erupted in 1883, releasing ashes that reached Europe.
Having been absent for years, they reunited under the name Krakatau Reunion in 2013. They later released a record titled “Chapter One”.
