TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Acting Jakarta Governor Sumarsono said Jakarta residents are not free yet from the threat of tuberculosis.
"At this commemoration of world tuberculosis day, Jakarta still has problems. The Jakarta Health Agency still has to work harder,” Sumarono said in Jakarta on Saturday.
According to him, data from the Jakarta Health Agency shows that in 2016, as many as 109,970 Jakarta residents allegedly suffered from tuberculosis and 77,171 people were positive to suffer from the disease.
Sumarsono added the Jakarta government continues the fight against the disease and one of the measures is to clean the environment through river normalization.
"Only 40% of rivers are normalized,” he said.
