TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The panel of judges at North Jakarta District Court has rejected the defense statement of blasphemy case defendant Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok. “To convey that the defense of Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or Ahok and his defense attorneys has been rejected,” chief judge Dwiyarso Budi Santiarto in an injunction hearing at North Jakarta District Court on Tuesday, December 27, 2016.
In its decision, the panel of judges holds public prosecutors’ indictment note valid, orders to proceed with the trial and suspends court cost until a verdict is issued.
Having read the decision, the panel of judges allows both prosecutors as well as Ahok and his litigation team to respond. Ahok later replied, “Your honor, we will think about it.”
Ali Mukartono has expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the injunction decision. Ali also said that the next hearing will see the examination of witnesses. The public prosecutors have planned to bring 5-6 witnesses against Ahok.
Chief judge Dwiyarso adjourned the trial until January 3, 2017, at Agriculture Ministry building on Jalan RM Harsono, Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta.
