TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of Public Relations Division of the Jakarta Metro Police, Insp. General Boy Rafli Amar, said that the Police named seven suspects for the attempt of an alleged coup of the Indonesian government.
The seven suspects are Rachmawati Soekarnoputri, Kivlan Zein, Ratna Sarumpaet, Adityawarman, Eko, Alvin, and Firza Huzein. "The police investigators saw that a coup attempt is categorized as a formal offense, so the suspects can be captured before the coup is conducted," explained Boy at the Police HQ, on Saturday, December 3, 2016.
Boy added that these seven suspects intended to use the freedom of speech to make new ideas which could be misinterpreted, which could rule out the opinion of others. "After the November 4, 2016, when people is so enthusiastic about rallying, there are attempts which are not in line with the true aspiration," he said.
The seven suspects were charged with Article 107 in conjunction with Article 110 in conjunction with Article 87 Penal Code about attempt of a coup. The Police had previously arrested some people who were allegedly involved in a coup attempt. The seven suspects were arrested before the Jakarta Rally event in the National Monument (Monas) was hold.
Besides these seven, the Police also apprehend Sri Bintang Pamungkas, musician Ahmad Dhani, and several other people. The police then decided to arrest Sri Bintang while the others were sent home after their interrogation were done.
