DPR Ready to Mediate Appointment of New KPU Chairman

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chairman of the Governance Commission of the House of Representatives (DPR) Rambe Kamarul Zaman leaves the appointment of the new General Election Commission (KPU) chairman to the KPU internal mechanism.

However, he said that the DPR is ready if it has to be involved in the internal mediation for the appointment.

"We’re going to help the mediation,” Rambe said in Jakarta on Sunday (10/7).

For the record, the position of KPU chairman is now empty after its former chairman Jabatan Husni Kamil Manik passed away on Thursday evening (7/7).

According to Rambe, KPU must immediately appoint a new chairman in order to lead coordinating meetings, sign regulations and coordinate with other institutions.
