TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-Acting Consul General of Indonesian Consulate General (KJRI) in Jeddah, Dicky Yunus, said that there had been no Indonesian citizens among the victims in bomb attacks in Medina, Saudi Arabia.
“To date, we have yet received any information on Indonesian victims [in the suicide bomb],” Dicky told Tempo Tuesday, July 05, 2016, hoping that there will be no Indonesian being a victim of the terror attack.
According to Dicky, there are five victims in the Medina suicide bomb. The perpetrator was one of the victims while four others were security officers.
Rahmat Aming, Consul for Consular Affairs of KJRI Jeddah, told Tempo that the blast also wounded five, however, the identities of the victims can yet be confirmed.
Aming said the blast was located at around 500 meter from the area of Nabawi Mosque or known as Prophet’s Mosque. "It was outside the mosque’s gate," he said, adding that his location was in front of Medina’s court building.
Suicide bomb struck three cities in Saudi Arabia on Monday, namely in Jeddah, Qatif, and Medina. No official statement following who is behind these incidents.
The first terror attack was happened at United State Consulate in Jeddah before dawn. Two police officers and the suicide bomber died in the incident. The second blast was occurred near a Shia Mosque in Qatif with no victim except the perpetrator. And the last incident was in Medina occuring before the breaking of Ramadan fast.
Following the incident, KJRI Jeddah and KBRI (Indonesian Embassy) in Riyadh have called on the Indonesians in Saudi Arabia to stay alert and always bring ID when traveling.
