Army Member in Ketapang Circulates Allowance Request Letter

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Military Region Command XII Tanjungpura is currently investigating a letter made by an army member to request for religious allowance in Ketapang, West Kalimantan. The letter was sent to a number of companies and businessmen in the region.
"If it is proven [to be an army member], we will take firm action. This incident has defamed the Indonesian Army," said Col. Inf. Tri Rana, Head of Information of the Military Region Command XII Tanjungpura on Tuesday, June 28, 2016.
The allowance request letter, dated June 15, 2016, bears the signature of Capt. Arifin, a Commander of a Military District Command. The letter however, did not mention details about how much money was requested.
Tri stated that every army personnel have received allowance from the government. In addition, High ranking army officers had also provided allowance for low ranking members. "If the letter is true, than it was for someone's personal interest," Tri added.
Tri also warned all army members to not request for religious allowance to companies. Tri stated that any army members found requesting allowance from companies or businessmen will receive disciplinary sanctions.
