TEMPO.CO, Pangandaran - Madasari beach in West Java may not be as popular as Pangandaran beach.
However, the beach, which is located in Masawah village, Cimerak district, Pangandaran regency, has its own beauties.
This beach is so beautiful that tourists and locals call it ‘Kuta Beach from West Java’.
"The view in this beach is beautiful, just like beaches in Bali,” said Sinta, one of the tourists visiting the beach on Sunday (15/5).
"The name ‘Madasari’ consists of two words, namely ‘mada’ (means to eat) and ‘sari’ (means) ‘to look for’, so Madasari means ‘looking for a peace to eat to make your food more delicious,’” said Endang Rohman, a tourist guide there.
Endang added that Madasari beach began to be known among tourists about three years ago.
"Before the Tsunami that hit Pangandaran in 2006, there was no bridge leading to Madasari. After the Tsunami, a bridge was built and the beach began to be known by the locals and three years later, tourists began to come to the beach,” Endang added.
The beach is managed by the village government instead of by the regional government. Therefore, its development is not as fast as development of other beaches.
"The locals want it to be managed by the village government," Endang added.
However, he said that although development of tourism infrastructures is not fast, Endang said that there are already homestays, toilets, praying rooms, and vendors who sell snacks and drinks in the beach.
Madasari beach is located around 30 kilometers and or an hour drive from Pangandaran beach.
