TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Besides being known for its Gerojogan Sewu waterfall, Karanganyar village in Central Java also owns another equally exotic waterfall called Jumog Waterfall.
Jumog is located in Ngargoyoso Subdistrict which is known as a tea producing region on the slope of Mt Lawu. It is close to Sukuh and Cetho Temple complex. Jumog waterfall becomes a ‘bonus destination’ for people who are traveling to Ngargoyoso because they can enjoy waterfall, temple and tea farm in one go.
Jumog waterfall drops down from 30-meter height. Its cliff is green covered with moss, creeping plants and ferns, surrounding the clear water falling onto the small river below. The cool mountain air does not stop people from enthusiastically swarming the waterfall.
People may enjoy the water by plunging into the river where the stream is not too strong. A swimming pool for children are built nearby the waterfall. Lots of street food vendors are also available around the spot so that we don’t have to worry of getting starved. Some of the food stalls offer the region’s signature dish: rabbit satay.
The access to the waterfall is only available by private vehicles such as cars or motorcycle.
“There is no public vehicles coming here,” Nardi, one of the local residents said.
“But you can take ojek (motorcycle taxi).”
