TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The plan to remove subsidized fuel, locally known as Premium, in Jakarta could be realized, Energy Ministry’s director of oil and gas Agus Cahyono Adi said. Agus added that the plan had progressed to an initial discussion.
“The Premium removal in Jakarta is possible. It’s currently being discussed,” Agus said in Jakarta on Sunday, February 14, 2016.
The plan had been positively responded since the city’s Premium consumption had reached 20 percent of the national consumption. Data from Pertamina showed that Premium sales from July to December 2015 stood at 978,799 kiloliters.
The figure was the highest compared to those of other fuels, such as Pertamax (232,113 kiloliters) and Pertalite (83,803 kiloliters).
“Removing Premium in Jakarta is a good plan because the figure is 20 percent of the national consumption,” he added.
However, Agus revealed that the government could not yet reveal the scheme to be used to limit premium distribution in Jakarta.
“We need to discuss it further,” Agus said.
