TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tourism Minister Arief Yahya guaranteed that Indonesia’s tourism industry had fully recovered following recent terror attacks to Jakarta on Thursday, January 14, 2016.

Arief revealed that Jakarta, particularly Jl. MH Thamrin, where the terror attack took place, had returned to normal as reported by public via social media.

“It turns out that people took selfies at the police outpost, where an explosion occurred,” Arief said on Sunday, January 17, 2016.

Arief added that the center of the crowd during the car free day had shifted from Bundaran HI, Monas and Senayan to the terror attack location.

“So, the situation has returned to normal. People reported the condition on the ground zero via Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Path, Pinterest and other social media,” Arief said.

Arief also claimed that the international community’s trust in Indonesia’s tourism had been restored. Arief revealed that the Sean Seas Voyager would be on schedule to arrive in Sabang, Aceh, on January 21, 2016, carrying thousands of tourists.

“In January 2016, there will be three cruise ships docking in Sabang. They won’t come if the situation is not safe,” Arief added.

In addition, Garuda’s chartered flights from 11 cities in China during 2016 Chinese New Year’s Holiday are also unaffected by the incident. A total of 65 flights are scheduled to carry more than 23,000 Chinese tourists to spend their holiday in Bali.
