TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Fisheries and Maritime Affairs Rizal Ramli criticized the Upstream Oil and Gas Regulatory Special Task Force (SKK Migas) on Thursday, November 19, 2015, saying that the oil and gas industry regulator did not use local contents in its exploration activities.
"This is a criticism for the SKK Migas," Rizal said when speaking at a seminar in Jakarta on Thusday, November 19, 2015
Rizal argued that the law mandated the state to use local contents at a certain level in exploration activities.
"Unfortunately the SKK Migas has never carried out this mandate. Either they don’t understand or turn their backs," Rizal added.
Rizal explained that without involving local companies in Indonesia, many local drilling companies were out of jobs. Therefore, Rizal urged the SKK Migas to comply with the law by involving local drilling companies.
Rizal added that the state should have supported local business owners by involving them in exploration activities.
"Other countries do the same to support local business owners," Rizal explained.
