Long Distance High-Speed Train Necessary: Expert

TEMPO.CO, Depok-Transportation Expert from University of Indonesia, Ale Berawi, said on Wednesday, October 7 that bullet train is necessary to improve economic state of middle-class. However, he warns that the construction should pay attention on the distance.
"It is better to build bullet train that travels from Jakarta-Surabaya," Ale said.
He believes that bullet train will help accessibility, making transportation easier.
"Bullet train will help boost business and endorse middle class economy," said Ale Berawi, adding that middle-class economy elevation will consequently endorse lower-class economy.
Moreover, he said that bullet train will require new track, as the current railroad is not compatible for the speedy train. Bullet train railroad must at least be of 1.4 meters wide, which the current railroad is found lacking.
