TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Senior Commissioner Adi Deriyan Jayamarta, the Head of Subdirectorate I of Corruption Directorate of the Criminal Investigation Unit (Bareskrim), said that Bareskrim investigators will chase other suspects related to the alleged UPS (uninterriptible power supply) corruption. The plan will be carried out once the files for suspect Zaenal Solaeman is completed.
“Now we are still focusing on completing the files on Zaenal Solaeman. After that, we will established other suspects,” Adi said on Wednesday, Sept 23.
Investigators are currently preparing Zaenal’s file to be submitted to the Attorney General’s office. Zaenal has been detained in Bareskrim since early August. Zaenal is the commitment maker official for the UPS procurement in the Central Jakarta Secondary Education Department.
Along with Alex Usman, who is a commitment maker official for the UPS procurement in the West Jakarta Secondary Education Department, Zaenal has allegedly marked-up UPS prices to Rp5.8 billion per unit in the 2014 Jakarta State-Budget. Whereas according to a source, each UPS with a capacity of 40-kva only cost around Rp100 million.
Investigators have charged Alex and Zaenal with Article 2 and 4 of Regulation No.31 Year 1999 on Corruption Eradication in conjuction with Article 55 Paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code. The articles regulate on the act against the law to enrich himself, corporation, or other people that causes loss to state finance and abuse of position.
