President Guarantees Policies To Deal With Soaring Dollar

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta- President Joko Widodo said Friday, August 28, the government has prepared policies to face the weakening of the rupiah against the US dollar.
“It is most important to face the problem because there are already instruments from Bank Indonesia and the Financial Services Authority (OJK),” the president said in Batang, Central Java.
After the signing of the inscription that marks the start of the construction of a steam power plant (PLTU) Batang, the President said that this crisis is not only a problem faced by Indonesia, but also many countries.
"Almost all the countries is experiencing [the same problem],” he said.
The President also describes the problem of electricity benefits to meet the needs of the people for lighting.
"Electricity is not only for industrial purposes but also for the children to study [at night] and fishermen. The fish catch can be held in freezers that will require electricity," he said.
President Joko Widodo arrived in the village of Ujung Negoro PLTU, Kandeman District, Batang Regency, around 9:45 am aboard the Air Force helicopter, accompanied by several ministers, Police Chief General Badrodin Haiti, Central Java Governor, and Director of PT PLN.
