TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia volleyball team wary of the host nation Singapore in 2015 SEA Games which will be rolled starting from June 5 to 16. Head coach of men’s volleyball team, Ibarsjah Djanu says Singapore may deploy naturalized athletes.
“Surely we will keep alert on Vietnam’s strength. However, we clearly have to work hard to win in the group phase aganist Singapore,” said Ibarsjah when contacted via telephone on Friday, May, 29.
Indonesia men’s volleyball team is in one group alongside Vietnam, Cambodia, and Singapore. Singapore and Vietnam are considered the strongest contenders. Indonesia team has to survive both countries if they want to march easily to final. Otherwise, they will encounter Thailand and Myanmar who played well in the last three SEA Games.
“Therefore we are targeting to champ the group phase,” said Ibarsjah.
The team continue to train at Padepokan Voli Sentul, Bogor, these days focusing on team work, technique and defense. Despite not going overseas for a try out, Ibarsjah is optimistic that his team will be in a good shape for Singapore matches.
“We have no time for try outs, The last Proliga competition was quite helpful,” Ibarsjah added.
