TEMPO.CO, Surakarta – President Joko Widodo’s former official car when he was Surakarta Mayor will be auctioned off along with 48 other official vehicles owned by the Surakarta administration. Surakarta Regional Secretary Budi Suharto said Monday the preparations for the auction had been completed.
A 2002 Toyota Camry previously used by Jokowi during his term as Surakarta Mayor has been parked on the west side of the Surakarta City Hall, with a piece of paper displayed on its windshield containing technical information about the car and the auction’s minimum bid.
The paper reveals the minimum offer for the car is Rp158 million with a deposit of Rp150 million.
“It will be an open auction with a closed bidding system. What’s certain is that we will not redistribute these official cars,” said Budi.
The auction’s registration opens tomorrow, May 12, 2015, followed by aanwijzing (auction explanation) on the same day. Each participant is obliged to place a deposit according to the requirements and the money from the auction will be transferred to the state coffer.
Based on the data from the Surakarta government, the auction will involve 49 vehicles comprising 27 cars, nine trucks and 13 motorcycles. The ex-official cars of the Regional Secretary and the head of the local parliament will also be auctioned off.
