TEMPO.CO, Bandung – A group of private companies have offered mayors of Asian-African countries a string of devices that facilitate the smart city concept.
Machine to Machine (M2M) business manager of state telecommunication company PT Telkomsel, Ryan, said his company had invented equipment to support the smart city concept.
“We are optimistic about these business opportunities, since all cities need equipment that support their governance activities,” he said at Trans Luxury Hotel in Bandung, West Java, on Wednesday, April 22, 2015.
The devices comprise Metering Smart for Water, Metering Smart for Electricity and Smart Home. Metering Smart for Water and Metering Smart for Electricity function to anticipate water and electricity thievery—each is tagged Rp14 million, despite the absence of permits from state electricity firm PT PLN. Smart Home is a device used to monitor buildings or precious belongings—sells at Rp3 million.
He said all gear could only be connected to the government via 4G connectivity, and that two companies had installed 4G connectivity in Bandung.
He explained at present the Bandung administration was the only one using the equipment, which Telkomsel secured from the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) and the University of Indonesia (UI).
