TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – The Chinese government has offered funding for the development of the Jakarta-Bandung bullet train project. “There is a funding option from China,” State-owned Enterprises Minister Rini Mariani Soemarno said on the sidelines of the Asian-African Conference (AAC) event in Jakarta on Wednesday, April 22, 2015.
According to Rini, China will appoint China Development Bank to fund the construction and invest in the management of the train’s operation.
Rini said the amount of the funding had not been agreed on yet, and that China had also conveyed readiness to fund the project through a long-term loan.
Besides infrastructure development, Rini said she also asked China to share their know-how in such development. She added the cooperation would be stipulated in an agreement between both countries’ state enterprises.
“The agreement will specify the cooperation and the transfer of technology,” she said.
