TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Mandiri Group's sharia subsidiary Bank Syariah Mandiri (BSM) is targeting to increase its stock portfolio this year. BSM senior executive Kusman Yandi said that as of January 18, 2015, the company's capital market portion was around Rp1.8 trillion. This year, they hope to raise the portion to Rp 2.7 trillion.
"We also seek to increase our investment in State Sharia Securities (SBSN/state sukuk) in the secondary market," Kusman said in Jakarta, yesterday.
Kusman said target is part of the company's commitment to increase their sharia market share, particularly as the Islamic banking sector only absorbs 6.01 percent of the state sukuk market. The figure is very low compared to conventional banks, whose market share reaches 27.55 percent.
As of November 2014, the total value of corporate sukuk issuances reached Rp6.92 trillion while state sukuk issuance value amounted to Rp205 trillion. As of January 2015, the issuance value of government securities (SBN) reached Rp2,021 trillion or 74.8 percent of the total state debt.
