Govt Urged to Revise Hotel Meeting Ban Policy

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Hotel managers in Yogyakarta urged the government to revise the policy banning Civil Servant to hold meetings in hotels, as it will impact negatively in tourism industry. Starred hotels are likely to lose 40 percent of its revenue, if the policy stands.
Head of Indonesian Hotels and Restaurants Association (PHRI) of Yogyakarta, Istijab Danunagoro, said that 32 starred hotels lost potential revenue of 60 billion in December 2014 as a number of government institution cancelled conference schedule.
In fact, hotels in Yogyakarta relied 40 percent of its revenue to government guests. "The policy has cost hotels their market," said Istijab. Moreover, he claimed that PHRI has delivered its complaints to the government, as well as meeting Yogyakarta Governor, the Royal Highness Hamengku Buwono X.
