TEMPO.CO, Surabaya - Forty days after the AirAsia flight QZ8501 incident in Karimata Strait, the Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team of the East Java Police, claimed to have recovered 93 bodies.
Earlier on Thursday, February 5, 2015, 15 more bodies arrived in Surabaya to be identified.
"Two bodies [out of the total 15] were [badly severed], leaving only parts below the knee," said Senior Commissioner Awi Setiyono from the East Java Police.
The other 13 bodies were no better, as most of them have been soaked in sea water for over a month. The bodies were then sent to the Bhayangkara Hospital morgue to be labeled, before undergoing post-mortem investigation process.
Awi added that with the arrival of the 15 new bodies, the Bhayangkara Hospital in Surabaya has received a total of 93 bodies, including one non-human corpse of a monkey. Out of the total number, the DVI team managed to identify 68 bodies, while the remaining 25 are still being examined.
