TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Tedjo Edhy Purdjatno said he would discuss the movement of the Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria in Indonesia and the 12 Indonesians arrested by Malaysian anti-terror police for allegedly joining ISIS.
“The police are investigating their involvement. I will gather all to review everything,” said Tedjo on Tuesday.
According to Tedjo, there are hundreds of Indonesians suspected of joining ISIS and make contact with four foreign nationals from Turkistan who were captured in Poso, Central Sulawesi, last September.
The police said those four foreign nationals came to Indonesia to participate in military drills with Santoso-led terrorist group who had declared its support for ISIS.
“Mr. President asked for anticipation so that they won’t disturb the development there. We will take action so that they cannot go in or out easily,” said Tedjo.
Passports of foreign nationals suspected of joining ISIS will be confiscated. “Many people enter Poso. We will confiscate their passports if they prove to be with ISIS,” said Tedjo.
