TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Former State-Owned Enterprises Minister Dahlan Iskan said streamlining Pertamina’s board of directors would not have a significant impact on the company’s performance. However, Dahlan noted that the decision-making process at the company would be swifter.
According to Dahlan, a company could take various forms.
“[The company] could be streamlined at the top [management], ‘fat’ in the middle and at the bottom,” Dahlan said on Monday, December 1, 2014.
On Friday, November 28, 2014, the government officially appointed as Pertamina’s new president director, replacing Karen Agustiawan, who resigned on October 1, 2014. In addition, the General Shareholder Meeting had decided to reduce the number of board members from nine to four.
Dahlan viewed that the government had made a right decision by appointing Dwi Soetjipto, adding that he would do the same.
“Great, he is one of the best CEOs of state-owned companies,” he claimed.
Dahlan also understood that some people did not agree with Dwi’s appointment due to his background.
“It’s okay, the [Energy and Mineral Resources] minister has also no background in the energy sector,” Dahlan said.
