Seven Percent Economic Growth Possible, Says Kadin

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) chairman Suryo Bambang Sulistio said the seven percent economic growth target set by President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo was feasible.
“I think it’s not an impossible target to reach. But we need to think creatively,” Suryo said at Hotel Century Park, Jakarta, on Thursday, November 27, 2014.
According to Suryo, the government should start formulating an intensive and stimulating fiscal policy and ease business licensing procedures.
Suryo revealed that investors were still doubtful to invest in Indonesia as China now seemed to be more appealing to them.
“China will fully support a beneficial sector, such as infrastructure,” Suryo said.
Suryo hopes that the Indonesian government will issue better policies to lure investors since the competition in South East Asia was bound to be tighter ahead of the ASEAN Economic Community in 2015.
“We shouldn’t wait. We have to be proactive [in attracting investors],” Suryo suggested.
