TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Transportation Minister Ignasius Jonan elaborated several issues to be addressed by his ministry to support President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s maritime programs, including those related to permit regulations.
According to Jonan, the Transportation Ministry will simplify the permit process by giving authorities to director generals to sign matters that do not need approval from the Transportation Ministry. Jonan added that permits that need to be renewed on a monthly basis would be extended to a longer period.
“For instance, monthly permits will be changed to annual permits. And annual permits will be extended to five years,” said the former PT KAI director on Friday, November 14, 2014.
Jonan also reiterated his plan to build 24 ports to support sea toll road concept and to strengthen the national maritime. Therefore, he would remove regulations on infrastructure development tender.
Jonan viewed that regional sea port and airport developments in should be initiated soon, instead of waiting for regions to develop.
“I think the State Budget is aimed at realizing equitable development in regions,” he said.
