TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Two defendants of the sexual abuse case at the Jakarta International School (JIS), Agun Iskandar and Virgiawan, is back on trial in the District Court of South Jakarta. Both suspects will be hearing a testimony of the victim, AK, a six-year-old student.
The attorney of both defendants, Mada Mardanus, said that AK will be presenting his testimony via teleconference. "Due to certain reasons, this technology will be put to use," Mada said on Wednesday, November 5, 2014.
In a trial held on October 8, AK attended the hearing by wearing a Spiderman costume. The agenda at that time was to hear the perspective of expert witness Seto Mulyadi.
AK was providing his testimony accompanied by his parents. However, AK later decided to leave from the courtroom.
The sexual abuse case in JIS occurred last April, after one of the student’s parents filed a report to the police.
The police have determined six janitors working at JIS as suspects, including Agun Iskandar, Virgiawan Amin, Syahrial, Zainal Abidin, Afrischa Setyani, dan Azwar, who committed suicide by drinking toilet cleaner.
