TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Director of Operation Management and Maintenance of the Public Works Ministry Hari Suprayogi said the ministry would take several measures to address the ongoing drought that hit several regions.
Providing water pump is one of the measures. "We have prepared 761 water pumps," Hari said yesterday.
The 761 pumps consist of 220 water pumps with the capacity of 10-30 liter per second and 541 water pumps with the capacity of 150 liters per second.
The pumps will be spread in areas like West Sumatra, South Sumatra, Banten, West Java, Central Java, East Java, Southeast Sulawesi, West Nusa Tenggara and East Nusa Tenggara.
Data from the Public Works Ministry showed that eight provinces in the country were hit by drought. They are Bengkulu, Lampung, West Java, Central Java, Yogyakarta, East Java, South Sulawesi, and East Nusa Tenggara.
The Public Works Ministry, Hari said, will also provide water tank cars and hydrants in regions having the clean water crisis.
