TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Bayu Santoso, 20, has seized the global spotlight as the goat sheperd from Yogyakarta won a cover design competition for US rock band Maroon 5's latest album.
Bayu, a student of Visual Communication Design faculty at the Yogyakarta Institute of Arts (ISI), said that he never imagined he would triumph at the competition.
Last week, US band and global icon Maroon 5 announced that Bayu, also known as Bayo Gale, was the winner of the cover design contest for its newest album, "V".
"Congratulations to Bayo Gale on The Winning Artwork in Our Creative Allies Contest to Design An Alternate Cover For 'v'," Maroon5 wrote on its official website. Bayu designed a drawing of a tiger with a clear distinctive ‘V’ on its nose.
With his victory, Bayu earns a cash reward and a free pass and flight to a Maroon 5 concert. Despite winning the global-scale competition, Bayu is known for his humble life. The brilliant visual designer was even nicknamed the “Goat Shepherd” by his peers.
