TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Two parents of Jakarta International School (JIS) alleged victims of sexual abuse now face criminal charges for spreading lies. "I was sued over Rp1.4 billion for spreading lies," said one of the parents.
Moreover, she claimed that she also faces several negative reports, with some saying that she exploited her child to gain profit. "I was also accused of being materialistic for demanding retribution to JIS,” she said. “Which parents want their son raped? I asked for retribution because I was angry. I had entrusted my son to the school, but he was treated like that."
Another parent with initials 'DR' also faces charges, notably from Singaporean court. DR was charged for spreading lies in mass media. "In fact, the text messages I sent was a suggestion for parents to check their students, so that more victims would speak," she said. "I know that there are other students raped and physically abused at school (JIS)."
