TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Acting Jakarta Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama has threatened to shut sub-district offices displaying poor performance in serving the people.

“We will find out which sub-district and district offices that poorly serve the people. We’re thinking of closing them,” he said at the East Jakarta Mayor office on Monday, July 21, 2014.

Ahok said he planned on evaluating the implementation of the capital’s one-roof integrated service (PTSP) program, particularly on manpower.

“We can evaluate how many personnel are required for the PTSP, we can see this from the points the personnel get. If he or she serves too few people it means we have to cut back on the personnel.

"We will find out why sub-district offices are always empty in the morning. Perhaps they want to open the offices from nighttime until early in the morning. We will work on that,” he said.

The PTSP, Ahok said, would make the role of sub-district and district chiefs become like corporate managers. “They have to deal with garbage, park lamps and others. They have to be active,” he said.

Ahok also called on PTSP personnel to report to him any case of civil servants complicating the process of permit procurement. “They must report to me which agency is rude and ping-ponging people,” he said.
