TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Police have guaranteed that security conditions during the announcement of presidential election result on July 22 will be safe, and have prepared measures to prevent riots.
One of the measures taken is coordinating with campaign teams of both presidential candidates: Prabowo Subianto-Hatta Rajasa and Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla. "We asked [campaign teams] not to bring large number of masses," said Jakarta Police spokesman Sen. Com. Rikwanto on Monday, July 21, 2014, adding that teams from both candidates have agreed to the Police's term.
The police have also deployed personnel at the General Elections Commission (KPU) office to prevent threats in the building until tomorrow. National vote recapitulation is currently ongoing in the building.
"In addition to KPU [office], we will also secure several crowded places tomorrow," he said. People have been asked to not to worry about rumored threats ahead of the election result announcement.
