TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Head of the Jakarta Education Agency Lasro Marbun said he was bullish the funds of Kartu Jakarta Pintar (Jakarta Smart Card/KJP) education aid would soon be liquidated this month.
“We are working on this. The target is to have the funds liquidated this month. I feel sorry for students who want to buy new uniforms,” Lasro told Tempo on Thursday, June 12, 2014.
Lasro said his agency was now at the stage of selecting candidates of KJP recipients. He added the selection process would be completed on either Friday or Monday next week and the results would be immediately reported to the governor for approval.
Lasro also called on KJP recipients to be patient while the money was being liquidated. “If we want to abide by the rules, the process will be quite lengthy indeed. It will be faster if we break the rules but there will be problems at the end,” he said.
The process of liquidation of KJP funds had been full of twists and turns as the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) recently called for close monitoring of social aid funds, including KJP, to keep them from being abused for political gains during the nation’s electoral period.
