TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - To improve TransJakarta bus service, which is often complained by passengers, the Jakarta city administration will give extensive training for the bus drivers, as reported by Antara News.
In order to boost their professional working performance, Jakarta Deputy Governor, Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama, planned to raise articulated TransJakarta driver salary three times of Jakarta provincial minimum wage (UMP), which now reaches Rp2.4 million.
The training is aimed to create TransJakarta bus drivers who are aware on traffic discipline and passenger safety so that it will lure private vehicle users to switch to TransJakarta buses.
"We will give the drivers three-times salary from the designated UMP to articulated bus drivers, so there will be no more violating and reckless driving on roads," Ahok stated on Thursday.
