TEMPO.CO, JakartaIn an effort to beautify Monas area and attract more visitors, Central Jakarta Cooperative Small Micro Medium Enterprises and Trade (KUMKMP) Sub-Department is planning to revitalize the street vendors' guidance location (Lokbin) in IRTI Monas Market this year, as cited in Antara News.

The revitalization itself will be fully financed by PT Sosro through its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program.

"We've held meeting last month with PT Sosro regarding IRTI Monas street vendors" revitalization. The data of 329 street vendors have been recorded. Later, they will be given kiosks in the size of 2x2 meters and charged with retribution. "The kiosks will be built by PT Sosro, but the management is handed out to us," stated Head of Central Jakarta KUMKMP Sub-Department, Sri Indrastuti.

At this time, Indrastuti continued, her sub-department is building a temporary shelter in Kandang Rusa Monas area for IRTI Monas street vendors. If the revitalization completed, street vendors’ wares will be arranged separately using zoning system.

"We're currently building a temporary shelter for the street vendors. So, when entering Monas area, the visitors will directly pass the street vendors. Later, zoning system will be applied for street vendors selling souvenirs and those who sell foods. As for the payment method, it will go through cashier, like in the food court," she uttered.
