LCGC can Dominate ASEAN Market, Expert Says

7 February 2014 05:26 WIB

Tahun Ini 40 Ribu LCGC Diproduksi

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Automotive Expert Suhari Sargo, said that low-cost green car (LCGC) market is very potential in ASEAN because of the tax free policy that the government has applied within the region.

According to Suhari, the decision to export LCGC depends on the plan of the principal company. This is because the marketing strategy and the destination country fall under the authority of the principal company. The companies, such as Daihatsu, Toyota, and Honda, will research the destination country's characteristics before deciding to export their cars.

"The export within ASEAN will generate more profit because this region is tax free. That is why Astra Daihatsu Motor exported Ayla to the Philippines," said Suhari on Wednesday, February 5, 2014.

He also said that export to other countries is possible under the condition that the destination country has a large market for LCGC. Countries such as Brazil and South Africa, are considered to have quite a huge market for LCGC.
